Monthly Event Preview: December 2019

Christmas time is concert time – that is the reason why the premiertone team is looking forward to a month full of cultural highlights. Whether it's Advent concerts, oratorios, recitals or dance theaters: our premiertone artists will thrill you with wonderful performances all over the world.


Hermann Bäumer conducts the premiere of the Tambora Tanztheater at the Staatstheater Mainz on December 8. Works by Thorvaldsdottir, Moretti, Gordon can be experienced here.


On December 20, Ni Fan will be celebrating her inaugural concert as a guest professor at the China Conservatory of Music in Beijing.

Sophia Jaffé will be part of a song and aria evening titled "Dichterliebe" in Dortmund on the third Sunday of Advent.
Nils Mönkemeyer plays a mini tour with the Berlin baroque soloists from December 1-4. Mozart's music will be performed in Regensburg, Essen, Mannheim and Zurich. In Munich, Barbara Buntrock will perform with the Mariani Piano Quartet works by Fauré and Enescu on December 8.
On St. Nicholas' Day, cellist László Fenyö gives a concert with the Southwest German Chamber Orchestra Pforzheim in Saarbrücken. Only two days later, Konstanze von Gutzeit performs Haydn's Sinfonia Concertante with the soloists of the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra at the Konzerthaus in Berlin. On December 13, Judith Ermert and Ning Kam (violin) are going to perform a double Brahms concert with the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra at the Thailand Cultural Center Bangkok. Claudio Bohórquez will play two chamber music concerts on December 14 and 15 with music by Schubert, Rossini, Mozart and Beethoven in Siegen and Betzdorf. Also on the third Sunday of Advent Mikayel Hakhnazaryan gives a concert with the "12 Cellists of the Berliner Philharmoniker" at the Prinzregententheater Munich.

Harpist Jasmin-Isabel Kühne has a very busy calendar in December. A special finale to the Christmas season will be on the 26th of December at the Evangelical Church Vorsfelde, where she will perform her solo recital "Hear the Angels Sing".

Meanwhile, the end of the year can be celebrated in Aschau where Johanna Dömötör will be on stage at the New Year's Eve concert with the soloists of the Munich Philharmonic.

Already on December 1, Marianna Shirinyan gives a concert in Aarhus with the violist Rafael Altino. The program includes music by Franck, Chopin, Sorensen and Rachmaninoff. The pianist Paul Rivinius plays at the BR Chamber Concert on "Light and Shadow" in Munich and Tutzing on the second Advent weekend.

The Doric String Quartet is back on tour through the UK and Switzerland this month. Their calendar includes concerts in Leeds, London, Suffolk and Bern. The Liederhalle Stuttgart hosts a concert by the Novus String Quartet on the 10th of December. The Ensemble Passo Avanti will perform its program "Chamber Music. Unlimited" at the Irsee Abbey.

Reinhard Goebel will conduct two concerts with the Orchestra Festival Bach Montréal on December 5 and 6. Daniel Raiskin will be guesting in Daejeon, South Korea, from December 19 to 20, conducting two concerts with the Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra there.

This month, Robert Koller is bringing Mendelssohn's "Elias" to the stage together with the Bach Choir Bern. Performances take place around the Christmas holidays in Zurich and Bern. At the New York MET on 27th of December Gerhard Siegel will be playling the “Hauptmann” in the opera “Wozzeck”
